I am a little a geek um I believe in my earlier years I was definitely an introvert however I would need to state of him very much an extrovert now however I’m also quite independent also um I am quite strong-willed which makes it a bit challenging for hubby often but I I do like the markets and I do enjoy learning too so I’m a little a reader I like numbers and I think I’m a little bit of a late bloomer also I think yeah yeah and to the point that you’ve discussed that you’re an introvert and how I believe I was an introverted introverted yeah obviously you’re you’re now an extrovert but how did you how did you shift in between that and you’re quite you’re put continuously out there putting yourself out there how did you shift between that
sure I think one of the things that individuals ask me or or get commented on a fair bit is that I appear to be a natural speaker that I’m quite good at public speaking however that certainly was not always the case and it was a discovered ability for me so whether it was the um getting over the nerves part or the part around body movement and even called The Positive walk I think all of those were um sort of taught skills so it definitely wasn’t something that came naturally to me and I worked extremely difficult I guess to acquire that ability of having the ability to speak um and I believe one thing that made a huge impression on me for someone who was late Blue Moon introvert and relative actually shy in my younger years was that everyone can speak so to be able to reveal yourself in a manner that people understand I think was rather important to me and um I guess that’s why I worked at the school and hopefully I am far better at it now than I was when I started off I would definitely say so um and how did you can you tell us a bit about how you started in um Financing like why did you select a career in financing and what was the the very first point of contact in the financial world was there an adult influence or was this something that you were simply constantly interested in I would enjoy to say that you understand I constantly understood what I was going to do which was Financing but that was not the case at all I can return when I began working it wasn’t.
unusual just to fall into your type of work for me I in fact wanted to be a lawyer from the time I was about seven years of ages however at the time that I went to UNI there were many legal representatives that the unemployment rate with law was so high that you had to do a double degree um so that was sort of five years of a double degree plus an extra year of law school and after that three years practicing as a lawyer and I believed oh that sort of seem like an extra ten years so I really ended and went up studying company at UTS so um comparable to a Commerce degree um however throughout uni I um I worked at an Italian dining establishment and then I attempted to open an Italian dining establishment and to do that um I needed to take out a loan with a NAB and truly I needed to pay back that loan when it didn’t exercise so um I I saw an advertisement in the paper and it stated do you wish to be a stock broker and I believed oh yeah that sounds respectable yeah we’ll give it a go we’re here we go and um you understand I was lucky in that sense because I I do enjoy the work I love being able to understand organizations and to work in a market where you’re continuously being able to keep up to date with what’s happening on the planet what’s occurring in terms of improvements in innovation or biotechnology and science I believe is an amazing thing so I like to read it and I never ever have a lack of stories to read when it comes to the markets yeah excellent and in between shift from oh I may wish to be a stock broker how did you become state injustices investment strategist how did that occur um was there.
did you work your method up to a certain position or did you just use and after that begin with there like how did that occur sure so um I think when it pertains to the finance world you sort of start everybody begins at a base level and after that you move into the location that you have an interest in my location of interest is constantly markets and I took the view that um you know when I began I didn’t wish to simply um just sort of I guess sell something that I was at first associated with so I made a huge effort to walk the walk and speak to talk which indicates anything that I was speaking about I I made the effort to in fact trade myself or invest in myself too and I began in finance with the view that you understand in any profession or in any profession it typically takes you about two or 3 years of learning to understand the lessons included and what was occurring in that kind of world so I I began an investment journal with the view that um you know I wanted to discover as much about investing as possible in a sort of 2 to 3 timespan so in that amount of time I sort of gave myself or I permitted myself the chance to lose cash as I believed to myself for the two to three years um that the the objective wasn’t to make as much cash as possible however the goal was to find out the ability of being able to earn money so that I can apply it for the rest of my life so that was a terrific period for me and I I discovered a lot of lessons I explored fundamental analysis technical analysis understanding companies taking a look at market analysis I also took a look at things like options trading which is a lot more dangerous but that was a great duration where I I sort of laid the foundation of entering into Equity technique which I really do enjoy and the reason I enjoy being an equity strategist is I enjoy comprehending cycles and how that influence on various businesses and the different.
service environments as well so um yeah it’s been a a long journey however one I I’ve definitely um delighted in so I have actually gone from presenting um things like basic analysis technical analysis tax reliable investing alternatives to heading up an essential analysis system where I got to take a trip a lot to the United States and then I relocated to Bell direct where I was Equity strategist there for 11 years and after that relocated to do my own funds management service birming invests which I offered in June and now here I am at State Street Global equities and consultants strategists for the ETF area well remarkable um throughout that period when you discussed um the two to 3 years of finding out how did you find that your self-confidence was at first versus after the 3 years and how did you discover um the resources to uh inform yourself like nowadays we have podcasts um I’m sure like before then we didn’t have a lot of resources available as we do now and was it through books or uni.
